L.S.D – Summer Facelift.

I spent the last week setting up the new platform and transferring all my posts over … And I’m finally done!

The new site is definitely still a work in progress and I welcome any and all feedback and or suggestions on how to make L.S.D prettier.

Take a look here … And let me know what you think!

The good. The bad. The really bad. And the exciting.

Happy Friday, my friends.  We made it to the weekend!

I have a few quick updates to share  before I shutdown to drink wine/bake cookies.

Shall we start with the good?

I’m finally getting a haircut.  The appointment has been made for next Tuesday at 5:00pm and I couldn’t be more excited.  Perhaps I’ll look like this:

Instead of this:

Onto the bad

Tomorrow morning is our first official run of the 2015 CES Summer Marathon Training Program … And it’s supposed to storm.  All. Day. Long. Not ideal.

Onto the really bad

I have three cavities.  THREE.  I brush my teeth compulsively and this is not acceptable.  I’m convinced my dentist is trying to scam me.

Onto the exciting

L.S.D is getting a summer makeover!!  I’m in the transition process and am already loving the new look.  I am the least savvy person when it comes to anything technical so it’ll probably take me a couple weeks to get everything fully sorted out and up and running.  I can’t wait to share the new site with you all … Stay tuned for updates!

Hope everyone is having a good start to the weekend!

TGI … Almost Friday.

I love me a good long weekend … But they just make the following week feel so … Blah.

In less than 36 hours, I went from Chicago to Virginia to DC to Virginia to Charlotte to Houston and back to Chicago.

This is how I feel:

I’m tired.  I don’t want to think anymore.  And I need a cocktail.

Hello, lovely 🙂

You’re probably wondering what this beautiful concoction is … And lucky for you, I’m gonna tell you.

Deep Eddy Vodka + Diet OceanSpray + Chopped up fruit (which I ate out of the glass already)

It’s light … It’s simple … It’s refreshing … You get a nice buzz … AND you get 100% of your daily Vitamin C.  I promise you won’t be disappointed … Or sober.

Side note – The caramels have nothing to do with the cocktail.  I just bought them because I plan on baking cookies this weekend.

Thanks for stopping in.  I hope you all are having a relaxing evening.  TGI …. Almost Friday, my friends.

That time I said no …

I was just offered a warm, chocolate chip cookie on the American flight I’m on … And I said NO (thank you).  Always gotta be polite.

I have no self-control when it comes to dessert.  Like none whatsoever. And it’s especially hard to turn down those warm, gooey, straight from the oven, melt-in-your-mouth cookies after a long day of frantically running through airports trying not to miss every one of your three flights.

But I resisted.  And I’m so proud.  And I just had to share that.

As much as I love cookies, it’s fun to test your willpower now and then.

Aside from that big win, I also managed to get in a 5am run by the lake before heading out.  Cool view, right?  It’s amazing what photoshop can do 🙂

And then my limo picked me up so we could head to the airport.

I took an UberX and I’m pretty sure the woman didn’t have a driver’s license.

Hope you all are having a good Tuesday!

Monday Night Confessions – Part 9.

Once in a while, I take rest days … From Eve.

No shame.  It is what it is.

Eve is absolutely the best thing that ever happened to me and I love this dog more than words can describe.  We spend a lot of time together and I never thought I’d enjoy the dog park more than happy hour.  I’m obsessed with this little child of mine and 100% believe that we saved each other.

That said, I’ve been an independent woman for a while now and sometimes I just need some pure me-time.

At the moment, Eve is having a sleepover with grandma while this girl takes the night off.

Wine. Cheese. The Bachelorette. And a seaweed mask.

Happy Memorial Day to me.

Race Results & Chocolate

Dear Legs,

❤ Arthi

Guys … I ran so fast on Saturday!  I couldn’t be happier with how race day turned out.  Perfect weather … Well-organized … And I PR’d!  Official time: 1:19:40 … Average page of 7:58!  My watch was a little off but here’s the rough breakdown for those interested: 8:47, 8:23, 8:23, 8:13, 7:57, 7:46, 7:48, 7:43, 7:33, 7:20.  Not bad, right!?

The rest of the afternoon consisted of some usual weekend activities.

Took Eve to the park so she could play with her best friend, Freddy.

Did some housekeeping and stumbled upon my collection of race bibs.  A couple things to note … 1.) I swear I’m not a hoarder … 2.) I finally made my bed!

Eve proceeded to spend the rest of the day acting a fool while I tried to decipher what goes on in her head.  Thanks for the new book, mom!

Today is already off to a lovely start.  Eve and I headed out early for a slow, 5-mile recovery run and stumbled upon this place.  A chocolate cafe in Old Town … YES!  I’ll be heading there this afternoon if anyone cares to join 🙂

Have a good Sunday & Holler if you want to eat chocolate together!

SF10 Weekend!

What’s more fun than jumping into a freezing cold pool first thing in the morning?

image6 image7

Just about anything else.

I’ve come to accept my love-hate relationship with the pool.  As much as I dread our weekly rendezvous, I’ve learned to respect and embrace the time spent together.  After a couple years of dealing with nagging injuries, I’ve realized I’d much rather take 1-2 days a week off running as opposed to taking an entire month or two off after things get really bad.  I managed to bang out 40 laps this morning and I can hear my body thanking me for laying off the pavement.

The 2015 Soldier Field 10-miler is tomorrow and these legs are ready!  I feel great and the weather forecast is looking just as perfect as it was for last year’s race.  A few things I love about the SF10:

  • It’s a Saturday race … And Saturday races are 1,000 times better than Sunday races.
  • It’s always during Memorial Day Weekend which is the perfect way to kick-off the holiday. Once you’re done … You have two full days to relax, recover, and drink lots of cocktails.
  • It finishes on the 50-yard line and you feel like a total badass when you run onto the field.
  • The course runs along Lake Michigan … The weather is typically perfect … And the lake is always sparkling and beautiful and reminds you of why Chicago is the best city in the world.
  • 10 milers are just … Fun.  They’re far enough to satisfy your long-run craving, yet they don’t leave you completely burned out afterwards.

Since we both had Friday off, I hung out at my mom’s Thursday night to kick-off the holiday weekend.  We drank vodka and crans, ordered takeout, watched Lost, and baked cookies.  Usual things.

If you haven’t tried putting marshmallows in your cookies, do it.  I’ll share the recipe later this weekend and it’ll change your life.

Enjoy your Friday, my friends!  Eve and I are off to the park!

Some Wednesday Thoughts.

I’m shocked at how many people watch HGTV.  Who would have thought the entire country is obsessed with watching shows about other people’s houses.

I took Eve on a 5 mile run this morning and I’m thrilled to report that she’s getting faster!  She’s gone from a 13:00 to a 10:30 in 2 days.  That’s my girl.

I started putting my legs up against the wall after long runs.  There is a lot of controversy about whether this actually helps with recovery and I figured I might as well give it a shot.  Eve tried too.

Eve Legs

I dropped Eve off at my mom’s this afternoon before heading to the airport.  We baked strawberry cupcakes together.  Totally normal.

It’s tornado season in Tulsa.  Yikes.

I was reading Shape Magazine and never quite understand why they always show pictures of women doing yoga in their underwear.  Do you do yoga in your underwear?  I sure don’t.

This is the second time I’ve stayed at the Doubletree downtown.  Aside from the cookie, I absolutely hate it.  The first time I stayed here, I was welcomed by a bunch of middle school girls during a regional cheerleading competition.  This time, I’m surrounded by a herd of rowdy teenage boys here for some baseball thing.  I don’t know which is worse.

That’s all.  Goodnight.

That time I was on House Hunters.

Guys … Our House Hunters episode is FINALLY airing!!

It’s been 7 whole months since we wrapped up filming and I’m so excited to see how nuts they made us look.  I’m pretty sure I’m going to be known as the “crazy giraffe lady” and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Here are the details:

  • Date: Monday, June 8th
  • Time: 10pmET/9pmCT
  • Title: “Young Buyer Fends Off Pushy Mom in Chicago Condo Hunt” – I love this title.  My brother and I always (semi) joke about how Usha is a tyrant and needs to be overthrown.  I’m glad the Network picked up on this.  Just Kidding …  Love you, mom 🙂
  • Linkhttp://www.hgtv.com/shows/house-hunters/episodes/young-buyer-fends-off-pushy-mom-in-chicago-condo-hunt
  • Viewing Party: I was originally planning to throw a viewing party at my condo, but since it’s late and it’s Monday, I’ll likely set something up at a bar in Old Town.  Stay tuned for specifics.

I’m so excited.  I hope you guys are too!  HGTV is the best.
